Taking Flight to SOAR to New Heights

What a super beginning we have had to start this school year at Northaven. I could not be more proud of the kids and staff for their commitment to learning. Seeing the smiling faces each morning starts our days off with positive relationships and happy beginnings to the school day.

We are welcoming many new staff faces this school year . Lisa Bowman is assisting in kindergarten, Judy Lunsford is teaching 2nd, Angela McCarthy is teaching 5th, Cynthia Santiago is teaching ESL and Intervention, and Whitney Stettenbenz is teaching technology and related arts.

Our theme this year is centered around air transportation and “soaring” with academic and behavioral achievement. Each grade level has chosen their own special type of transportation.

K=Space Ships

1st= Jets

2nd=Hot Air Balloons

3rd=Airplanes

4th=Helicopters

5th=Rockets

You will notice decorations and lessons that may have this content as the year progresses. If you have any ideas or connections to assist with the theme (guest speaker ideas,…) just let your child’s teacher know.

Through library this year the students will be learning from the Mutt-i-grees® curriculum for social skill development. You should be hearing soon about this great project.

I look forward to meeting each family this year.
